Reporter Lee Jae-hoon = ‘Twice’ became the first K-pop girl group to break the record of selling over 1 million albums in the US.<\/p>\n

According to the agency JYP Entertainment on the 10th, Twice added a record of being the first K-pop girl group to exceed 1 million copies of physical and digital album sales in the United States.<\/p>\n

Previously, Twice took second place on the US Billboard main album chart ‘Billboard 200’ as of the 25th of the same month (hereafter local time) with the 12th mini album ‘READY TO BE’ released on March 10th. The album was ranked for 9 consecutive weeks. In particular, the combined sales of the ‘Ready to Be’ album and streaming exceeded 153,000 copies, breaking the record for the highest sales among K-pop girl groups.<\/p>\n

In 2020, Twice signed a strategic collaboration with Republic Records, the top American label selected by Billboard under Universal Music, to target overseas markets.<\/p>\n

This strategy also had an impact on the scale of the fifth world tour currently underway, ‘Ready to Be’. Starting this month, Twice will tour Los Angeles, Auckland, Seattle, Dallas, Houston, Chicago, Toronto, Canada, New York and Atlanta, USA.<\/p>\n

In particular, it set a sold-out record when entering Los Angeles Sopai Stadium. Sopai Stadium is a space more than four times larger in size and scale than the Kia Forum, where Twice debuted in 2019 and held their first US solo concert. It is called the most expensive stadium in the world as the completion cost alone reached 4.9 billion dollars (approximately 5.7 trillion won). This is where the global super K-pop group BTS performed, and Twice will hold their first solo concert as a K-pop girl group here. It is also the starting point of the long journey of nine cities in the United States.<\/p>\n

In September, they will continue their fifth world tour in Singapore, London, England, Paris, France, Berlin, Germany, Bangkok, Thailand, and Bulacan, Philippines. Among them, the Singapore performance was originally scheduled to be held once on September 2, but it was sold out immediately after the ticket sales opened, so one performance was added. Tickets for the concert also sold out quickly. This tour is 36 times in 22 regions.<\/p>\n
