Reporter Lee Jae-hoon = 4th generation K-pop signboard boy group ‘Tomorrow by Together’ (TXT, Tubatoo) wrote a new record on the Japanese Oricon chart with their 2nd regular Japanese album ‘SWEET’.<\/p>\n
According to the latest chart released by Oricon on the 11th (as of July 17\/counting period July 3-9), TOMORROW X TOGETHER’s 2nd full-length Japanese album ‘SWEET’ sold 303,000 copies, reaching ‘Weekly 1 on the album rankings.<\/p>\n
Oricon said in an article posted on its official website that TOMORROW X TOGETHER is the first foreign artist to top the weekly album chart with eight albums in a row. <\/p>\n
With their 5th mini album ‘The Name Chapter: TEMPTATION’ in January, TOMORROW X TOGETHER became the first foreign artist to top the weekly album chart with 7 consecutive albums. 1 on the weekly album chart for 8 albums in a row is like breaking their own record in that category. <\/p>\n
Teams belonging to Hive Labels, including TOMORROW X TOGETHER, are sweeping the top ranks in the record for the number of works that have consecutively won first place on Oricon’s foreign artist’s weekly album chart. In second place was the global super group BTS and the 4th generation K-pop boy group ENHYPEN, who took first place with six albums in a row. In 4th place was the trending group ‘Seventeen’ (SVT), who ranked 1st with 5 albums in a row.<\/p>\n
Separately, TOMORROW X TOGETHER also broke the record for the highest number of album sales in Japan in the first week of its release with “Sweet.” Based on the Oricon chart, ‘The Name Chapter: Temptation’ sold 185,000 copies in the first week of release, but ‘Sweet’ sold 303,000 copies, about 1.6 times that of the previous work, setting a new record for TOMORROW X TOGETHER.<\/p>\n
In addition, it exceeded the cumulative sales of 226,000 copies recorded by the 2nd regular album’Chapter of Chaos: Freeze’ (released in June 2021), and also broke its own record for the highest cumulative sales in the first week. <\/p>\n
TOMORROW X TOGETHER’s ‘Sweet’ has been popular in the Japanese music market right after its release. Immediately after its release, this album went straight to No. 1 on the Oricon ‘Daily Album Ranking’ chart on July 4, and stayed at the top for 6 days in a row. On Line Music, a major music source site, it entered the daily album chart on July 5th and has maintained its position for the fifth day.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, TOMORROW X TOGETHER will appear on the ‘2023 FNS Song Festival Summer’, which will be broadcast on the 12th, and perform the title song ‘Sugar Rush Ride’ (Japanese version) of ‘Sweet’.<\/p>\n
