This is a fact that the group ‘SHINee’ proves. Their recently released 8th regular album ‘HARD’ contains various genres, but what dominates the emotions of the album are the title song ‘Hard’ and the title song candidate ‘JUICE’, two hip-hop songs. As word of mouth spreads about the perfection of these songs, it seems that they are getting more and more attention. <\/p>\n
SHINee is the main character who has been experimenting with cross-religious music and performance, such as ‘Sherlock’, ‘Everybody’ and ‘View’, along with refreshing pop, which is the area they pioneered in K-pop. <\/p>\n
In SHINee’s worldview, hip-hop started to rise to the surface in earnest with the title song ‘Don’t Call Me’ of the same name from the 7th regular album ‘Don’t Call Me’ (2021). Although they have been exposed to hip-hop directly or indirectly, such as uploading the old school hip-hop style ‘UP & DOWN’ on their 2nd regular album ‘Lucifer’ (2010), ‘Don’t Call Me’ is SHINee’s first activity. It was a hip-hop song that was put forward. <\/p>\n
Following ‘Don’t Call Me’, the two hip-hop songs ‘Hard’ and ‘Juice’, centered on producer\/composer\/lyricist Kenji, are old school hybrid hip-hop and high-tempo hip-hop mixed with boom bap and R&B, respectively. It does not advance in grammar.

Hip-hop, which celebrated its 50th anniversary this year, has become a mainstream genre by embracing various genres. K-pop has also been working hard to change the genre. Lim Hee-yoon, a music reporter (Yuni Lim), said, “K-pop is a famous genre that shines the most with fragmented social media and momentary aesthetics that are most suitable for releases and shorts. It shines even more with breathing. SHINee’s albums are a good example of that.” <\/p>\n
According to reporter Lim, SHINee’s full-length albums have played a role like a bible that shows a characteristic apex of the SM A&R system. Interpreting that SM’s A&R system is a flexible yet solid system honed over a long period of time that completely overlaps with the history of K-pop, he said, “If we accept the premise that K-pop is pop, it is basic audio-visual and synesthetic entertainment. If we accept the definition of one music genre, it is a key technology that made the current K-pop world possible.” <\/p>\n
