Reporter Lee Jae-hoon = The global girl group launch project ‘A2K’, jointly launched by JYP Entertainment and US Republic Records, led by producer and singer Park Jin-young, who is known as ‘the artisan of girl groups’, will take off the veil. <\/p>\n
On the afternoon of the 29th (hereinafter local time in the eastern United States), JYP released a teaser video for ‘A2K’ on their YouTube channel and announced this fact. The first episode of ‘A2K’ will be released on JYP’s official YouTube channel at 9:00 pm on the 13th (Korean time, 10:00 am on July 14).<\/p>\n
JYP is known as the ‘famous girl group’ that has discovered Wonder Girls, miss A, Twice, ITZY, etc. one after another. Republic Records is the No. 1 label in the US selected by Billboard under Universal Music, which includes Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, Post Malone, and Drake.<\/p>\n
When these two companies announced that they would jointly carry out a global girl group launch survival project based on the first K-pop training system in North America, it garnered a lot of attention.<\/p>\n
The teaser video, which was released this time, includes audition sites in five major US cities, starting with Atlanta in September of last year, followed by Chicago, New York, Dallas and LA, as well as the appearances of applicants from all over the world. After holding auditions in five major US cities, ‘A2K’ went through an evaluation based on dance, singing, star quality, and personality, which are the four qualities of a K-pop star, at LA Boot Camp. Successful candidates who passed this barrier moved to the JYP headquarters in Seongnae-dong, Seoul. We are developing our capabilities under the systematic K-pop training system that combines the know-how of K-pop planners, choreographers, and producers, led by Park Jin-young. Among them, the people selected through a total of three contests will be confirmed as the final debut members.<\/p>\n
In order to target the North American market in earnest, JYP established JYP USA, a North American corporation, in March last year. In May of this year, a company-wide collaboration system was established between JYP and Republic Records. ‘A2K’ is part of this strategic partnership.

Previously, regarding the significance of the launch of ‘A2K’, Jinyoung Park said, “‘A2K’ is the biggest project for myself and JYP. The US is not only the largest market in the world, but also I am also a JYP based on Motown Records in the US. and was influenced by the way they develop artists.” <\/p>\n
“We’ve taken another step here with a system that provides everything you need to unearth the raw material, complete training, and grow into a true artist, performer, and leader. Twenty-five years later, I’m back to the market where I got my idea. I can’t believe that I’m going, so the feeling is different,” he said.<\/p>\n
President and CEO of Republic Records, Monte Lipman, also said, “K-pop icon and pioneer Park Jin-young continues to create a special resonance in the music market and popular culture in general. If applied to artists, it will be an opportunity for a world-class super girl group to be born in the global music market,” expressing strong expectations for the new project.<\/p>\n
‘A2K’ is an extension of JYP’s localization strategy, the concept of Globalization by Localization. Previously, ‘globalization through localization’ proved this with ‘BOY STORY’, a localized boy group in China, and ‘NiziU’, a girl group formed through Japan’s ‘Nizi Project’. They also launched ‘Nizi Project Season 2’ for the Japanese male idol group’s debut.<\/p>\n
