Reporter Lee Jae-hoon = An album dedicated to the first-generation jazz vocalist and composer Kim Joon (83), who is known as the ‘gentleman of the Korean jazz world’, has been released.<\/p>\n
According to Universal Mew on the 19th, at 12 pm on the same day, Kim Jun’s tribute album ‘What a Wonderful World – A Tribute to Kim Jun’ was released online and offline. <\/p>\n
Chairman of the Korea Jazz Association and jazz diva Woongsan took charge of the production and production of this album. <\/p>\n
Woongsan said, “The more I know and sing Kim Jun’s songs, the more I know the depth of the music world and I wanted to share it with more people.” In particular, he explained, “Few people know that Kim Joon, who was interested in the interface between jazz and Korean songs, was a pioneer in popularizing jazz. This is the reason why junior musicians, including me, formed a consensus on the work of this tribute album and worked together.” <\/p>\n
The tribute album, which contains a total of 9 songs, shows both Kim Joon’s vocal and composer aspects. Woongsan carefully selected 8 songs from Joon Kim’s original works and recreated them into new performances and songs together with his junior jazz musicians. All of these are Kim Jun’s self-composed songs. Popular singer Kim Jang-hoon participated as a vocalist in ‘Don’t Ask Why’, one of the b-side songs.<\/p>\n
Woongsan said, “The process of selecting songs to express respect and tribute to Kim Jun, who studied and sang jazz for over 50 years almost all his life, seemed to discover a hidden gem.” Jazz critic Nam Moo-seong commented, “The process of reinterpreting the art world of an old man who was overlooked by the public according to the times and refining it while discussing with Mr. Kim Jun is a great scene that showed the genealogy of Korean jazz in itself.”

The end of this album was decorated with the famous song ‘What a Wonderful World’ sung by many jazz artists. It is a song that Kim Jun sang alone with Seong Ki-moon’s piano in the background. <\/p>\n
Joon Kim sang jazz for over 50 years and wrote the history of Korean jazz together. He is from the vocal group ‘Johnny Brothers’, the main character of the immortal national song ‘Red Scarf’. He showed his presence as the only male vocalist among the full-fledged jazz musicians who appeared in the 70s. The 83-year-old is still on stage in active duty. He served as the founding president and advisor of the Korea Jazz Congregation (KJC) and is currently a director of the Korea Jazz Association.<\/p>\n
He was also active as a composer. During that time, he composed over 1000 songs. He left numerous hit songs such as ‘Because I Love You’ (Patty Kim), ‘I’m Here Now’ (Park Kyung-hee), and ‘Jeans Lady’ (Park Sang-min). In addition, she sang ‘Under the Sea’ and ‘Be My Guest’ from the Korean version of the animated film ‘The Little Mermaid’ (1989). <\/p>\n
On July 5, at 7:30 pm, Kim Joon will hold a performance commemorating the release of his dedication album at the event hall on the 3rd floor of the Textile Center in Gangnam-gu, Seoul.<\/p>\n
