Reporter Lee Jae-hoon = Hwasa, a member of the 3rd generation girl group ‘Mamamoo’, left RBW, the agency where she was discovered.
On the 27th, RBW said, “Hwasa, who has been with us for a while, recently ended her exclusive contract. After careful discussions with Hwasa, we came to the end of a beautiful companionship under mutual agreement.”
However, the team activity continues. Another member of Mamamoo, Wheein, also left RBW in 2021, but Mamamoo activities have been together. Of the four members of Mamamoo, only Solar and Moonbyul are affiliated with RBW.
RBW said, “We will continue to provide unsparing support so that we can move forward like Mamamoo by the side of MooMoo (fandom name), separately and together.”
However, RBW’s first family concert ‘Over the Rainbow’, which will be held on the 16th of next month at SK Olympic Handball Stadium in Olympic Park, will feature Mamamoo’s unit ‘Mamamoo+’, composed of Solar and Moonbyul. There are quite a few teams that maintain team activities even though the members have different agencies. Representative examples include ‘Kara’, which is owned by the RBW label DSP Media, and ‘Girls’ Generation’, a group produced by SM Entertainment.
Since their debut in 2014, Mamamoo has released hit songs one after another and has established itself as a ‘trustworthy and listenable Mamamoo’. She had hits like ‘Piano Man’, ‘Um Oh Aye’, ‘You Are What You Are’ and ‘Decalcomani’.
In particular, Hwasa stood out for her solo activities among the members. She launched her solo career in 2019 in parallel, producing hits such as ‘Twit’ and ‘Maria’. In entertainment programs such as MBC TV’s ‘I Live Alone’, she has shown a natural and friendly charm. Recently, she is appearing in tvN’s ‘Dance Singer’s Wandering Troupe’, where top female singers of all time appear. Currently, she is discussing an exclusive contract with P Nation, which is led by singer and producer Psy, a Korean wave star.
