Reporter Lee Jae-hoon = MC Meta (META.·Lee Jae-hyun) will make his solo debut after 26 years since the formation of the first-generation Korean hip-hop duo ‘Garion’.
According to the record production company Big Circle on the 12th, Meta will release his first solo album this year. She announced that it would include songs that naturally achieved the ‘convergence of hip-hop and other genres’, which was rare in domestic hip-hop.
In addition to Garion, which started in 1997, Meta has been active in various units, collaborations, and featurings, including Rex, Meta, and Scoundrel Crew. With basic rhymes and flows, intelligent lyrics and diction, he has established himself as a role model for younger rappers.
In particular, prominent producers such as beatmaker Lionclad and Jang Young-kyu of Fisherman Project and Inalchi participate in this album.
Prior to the release of the album, Meta recently released the single ‘MOJO’. The pan-electronic-based beats, including glitches and UK dubstep elements weaved with the hands of artisans by the first-generation transistorhead of Korean techno, are impressive.
Meta’s ‘Mojo’ contains the desire to return to the beginning in order to regain the identity as an artist that has been lost through featuring, broadcasting, and educational activities in recent years.
The meeting of Meta and Transistor Head is also significant in that it is a combination of first-generation indie musicians. Both were responsible for the Club Masterplan’s hip-hop days and techno days in the late 1990s. Production is also handled by Yoon Byung-joo of Lowdown 30, who was active with the contemporary rock band Noise Garden. Yoon Byung-joo is the CEO of Big Circle.
