Reporter Lee Jae-hoon = Synthpop band ‘ADOY’ released a remake album ‘us’ on the 14th.
It is a kind of ‘hideout record’ made with music friends who have built friendship with Adoi from all over the world. Music friends remade each of Adoi’s songs.
Taiwanese band ‘Sunset Rollercoaster’ representing Asian pop, ‘Balloon’, Thai singer-songwriter Phum Viphurit, ‘Baby’, singer-songwriter Namcha from Bangkok, Thailand (Numcha) sang ‘Lemon’ again.
In addition, JORDANN, a singer-songwriter from Montreal, Canada, reinterpreted the song ‘Pool’ by bike, and Sion, a rookie producer who is receiving attention in the Korean R&B scene. British band PREP remixed ‘Wonder’.
Kim Yun-ha, a popular music critic, said, “The album flows smoothly and helplessly, like a loose community made up of people who like each other on a friendly frequency.” Just by looking at the image and listening to the sound, somewhere in the corner of the heart is buzzing. I heard that this is an emotional community that represents an era.”
Adoi has attracted attention since its formation in December 2015. This is because in the indie scene, famous people who are active in their respective bands have come together. After some member adjustments, Oh Joo-hwan (vocal/guitar) of ‘Eastern Sidekick’ and ‘Small O’, Park Geun-chang (drums) of Eastern Sidekick, G (ZEE, synthesizer) of ‘Frum the Airport’, and ‘Donna Wale’ · ‘Trampoline”s Jeong Da-young (bass) and others.
They play a mixture of synth-pop influenced by pop music in the 1980s, floating dream-pop, and urban city-pop. Beyond Korea, they are expanding their activities to Japan, Thailand, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and the Philippines.
They claim to be a ‘commercial indie’ and show off their various commercial senses. On the 16th, at 8:00 PM, ADOY members, Kim Yun-ha, critic, and producer Xion will send out the scene to listen to the songs in the album and talk. It is hosted by retail media platform ‘PRIZM’.
At the live concert, you can hear behind the scenes, from the first idea to the process of community work, and how each artist interpreted Adoi’s songs. Enjoy congratulatory messages and new music videos sent by participating artists. Prism also presented a graphic T-shirt design that applied the artwork of artist Ju Ji-oh, which was used on the album cover.
